Course Expectations
Course Description
This course is an introduction and exploration of computer-aided graphic design. Students will explore visual communication applied through a variety of industry-standard technologies and skills. Investigation of the elements and principles of design will lead to skills
appropriate to solving specific design problems. The development of ideas and the ability to communicate them effectively will be emphasized.
Student Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, students will be able to do the following:
• use industry-standard graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign.
• demonstrate an understanding of the principles and elements of design and color theory.
• understand hierarchy and create an effective page layout that incorporates principles of graphic design.
• understand typography and utilize effective typographic solutions.
• solve relevant issues of logo design and identity branding.

Requirements
• Projects (50%)
Class assignments and individual inquiry projects will be critiqued by peers, instructor, and submitted for formal assessment.
• Class Participation (50%)
Participation based upon attendance, the quality and quantity of participation in class discussions and critiques, effort, attitude, evidence of growth.
