Mission patches have been part of human spaceflight since the days of Project Mercury in the 1960s. The SSEP Mission Patch competition therefore allows communities to engage in another authentic aspect of the space program, and broadens SSEP to be more appropriately designated as a STEAM education initiative – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
We are excited to launch the first Mission Patch Design Contest for Berkshire Community College’s Student Spaceflight Experiment Program (SSEP). While the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education has been working with space agencies for years, and is currently undertaking its seventeenth mission to the International Space Station, this is BCC’s first student project heading into orbit! We are very excited about it and want to include as many in our Berkshire Community who would like to be involved!
